Privacy Policy

This policy describes the ways Evergreen ATM LLC Doing Business As (DBA) GetCoins, hereinafter, “GetCoins”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collect, store, use and protect Personally Identifiable Information. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that GetCoins complies with applicable United States (US) Federal and State regulations, and European Union (hereinafter: “EU”) data protection laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: “GDPR”). GetCoins’ Services include Automated Teller Machine service, merchant processing services, products, or any other features, technologies or functionalities (hereinafter: “Services”) offered by GetCoins. Users accept this Policy by visiting our website and/or by using our Services.

There are two types of data subjects whose personal data we may process:

  • Visitors of our website(s) (https://getcoins.com);
  • GetCoins Wallet users that have downloaded and installed the GetCoins Wallet app on their mobile device.
  • GetCoins ATM users that have registered a profile and/or conducted any transactions at our Digital Currency ATM Machines.

What is “Personally Identifiable Information?”

“Personally Identifiable Information” (hereinafter: “Personal Data”) is any information that can be directly associated with a specific person and can be used to identify that person. A prime example of identifiable information is a person’s name.

What kind of personal data do we collect?

The Personal Data we collect depends on the type of user:

Visitors

We may collect the following Personal Data for visitors of our website(s) (https://getcoins.com):

  • IP address
  • Email address (e.g. when you sign up for our emails, or submit a support or contact request)
  • Phone number (e.g. when you add it to an email signup, which we confirm with a one-time text message code, or submit a support or contact request)
  • Name (e.g. when you submit a support or contact request)
  • We may collect information about a visitor’s computer or other access devices for fraud prevention purposes.

GetCoins Wallet App Users

The GetCoins Wallet app (the “App”) is a self-custody wallet. Your private keys and recovery phrase are created and stored only on your device. GetCoins never receives them and cannot access, move, freeze or recover your funds. The App does not buy, sell or exchange cryptocurrency; purchases happen only at our ATMs.

The App does not show ads, does not use your device’s advertising identifier, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. It contains no analytics or advertising service that sends data about you. If the App crashes, it sends a crash report to GetCoins (see below).

What the App sends, and to whom:

  • To GetCoins, only if you sign in to the optional GetCoins account tab: your phone number and the one-time code or ATM PIN you enter, to confirm that you are an existing GetCoins ATM customer. While you are signed in, the App uses a session token to show your own ATM transaction history and limits, and stores your notification preferences.
  • Push notifications: if you sign in and allow notifications, the App obtains a notification token from Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (on iPhone, through Apple’s push notification service) and sends it to GetCoins so we can send you notices about your transactions. Signing out removes the token from our servers.
  • Crash reports: if the App crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report to a crash-reporting server that GetCoins runs itself: the error, where in the App’s code it happened, the App version, and your device model and operating system version. Before a report leaves your device, the App removes phone numbers, email addresses, wallet addresses, keys and sign-in tokens from it. Crash reports are not linked to your GetCoins account, are used only to find and fix problems in the App, and are deleted after 90 days.
  • Verify at home (optional): if you are signed in and tap “Increase my limits”, the App opens GetCoins Verify Ahead (verify.getcoins.com) inside the App. There you can choose to give us your name, date of birth, email address, home address, Social Security number, occupation and employer, the source and intended use of your funds and your expected monthly amount, whether you are a politically exposed person, the wallet addresses you plan to use, and photos of the front and back of your government ID and of yourself. From the ID photos we also record the details printed on your ID, such as its number. To prevent fraud we also record the IP address you use, the approximate location derived from it, and your device and browser type. GetCoins staff review every application. Once it is approved, we add the information to your GetCoins customer record in our ATM system so that our ATMs recognize your higher limit. This information is part of our Customer Identification Program and is kept as described under Data retention.
  • To wallet service providers: to show balances and send transactions, the App sends your wallets’ public data (public keys, addresses and transactions, never your private keys or recovery phrase) to BitPay’s Bitcore Wallet Service and to public blockchain data providers. These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies.
  • ATM list and map: the App downloads the list of GetCoins ATMs from GetCoins without sending your location, and downloads map images for the area shown on screen from OpenFreeMap.

What stays on your device: your location (used only to sort ATMs by distance and to center the map), camera images (used to scan QR codes; the only photos that leave your device are the ID photos and the photo of yourself that you choose to upload in Verify at home), the contacts you save in the App, and your PIN and Face ID / fingerprint settings.

If you contact support from the App, the App opens your phone’s own phone, email or text-message app. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself.

ATM Users

For customer using out ATMs, GetCoins collects the following personal information:

  • Your name
  • A copy of or information on your government-issued identification document
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • Your e-mail address
  • Your date of birth
  • Your tax identification number
  • Your transactional history
  • And any other personal information which we believe is necessary to maintain your account

Sensitive or special categories of personal data

GetCoins does not process any sensitive personal information, such as religion, race, ethnicity, and/or political views.

Why we collect personal information

Our primary purpose for collecting Personal Data is to provide you with a secure, smooth efficient, and customized experience. We may use your Personal Data to:

  • Allow you to open a transaction account
  • Enable you to complete transactions through our service
  • Conduct due diligence on and/or verify your identity
  • Conduct due diligence on your use of our services
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide the GetCoins Services and customer support you request
  • Process transactions and send notices about your transactions
  • Resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems
  • Prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and enforce our Terms of Use
  • Customize, measure, and improve the GetCoins Services, content, and layout of our website and applications
  • Deliver targeted marketing, service updated notices, and promotional offers based on your communication preferences

How we protect and store personal information

We take data security very seriously. We use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption, we enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files, and we authorize access to Personal Data only for those employees who require it to fulfill their job responsibilities.

This policy describes how GetCoins uses cookies to customize GetCoins Services, content and advertising, measure promotional effectiveness, and promote trust and safety.

Data retention

We are a regulated Financial Institution in the United States and per the applicable Bank Secrecy Act provisions, we will retain Personal Data that has been obtained as a part of our Customer Identification Program for a period of five (5) years after an account has been closed or became dormant. This includes the information and photos you submit through Verify at home, whether or not the application is approved. Crash reports from the App are deleted after 90 days.

Marketing

We do not sell your Personal Data to third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We may combine your information we collect from other companies and use it to improve and personalize the GetCoins Services, content, and advertising. If you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us or participate in our ad-customization programs, you can simply opt-out from the communications.

How we use cookies

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. The cookie allows the website to “remember” your actions or preferences over time. Most browsers support cookies, but you can set your browser to decline them and can delete them whenever you like.

What type of cookies do we use?

When you access our website, we, or companies we hire to track how our website is used, may place small data files called “cookies” on your computer. We and our service providers also use cookies to customize the GetCoins Services, content and advertising, measure promotional effectiveness, and promote trust and safety.

We encode our cookies so that only we can interpret the information stored in them. You are free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, but doing so may interfere with you use of our website. We may also collect information about your computer or other access device to mitigate risk and for fraud prevention purposes.

You may encounter cookies from third parties when using the GetCoins Services on websites that we do not control (for example, if you view a web page created by a third party or use an application developed by a third party, there may be a cookie placed by that web page or application).

Analytics and session recording

We use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog to understand how visitors use getcoins.com, signup.getcoins.com and our online registration form, and to find and fix problems with our pages.

Google Analytics measures the pages you visit, the links you click and similar interactions on these sites. With Google signals, Google may also give us aggregated, de-identified reports about our visitors’ age range, gender and interests. We do not send Google the contents of our forms. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

On getcoins.com and signup.getcoins.com (not on our registration form), we partner with Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replay, so we can improve our website. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies. Text you type into forms, numbers and email addresses are masked in your browser and are not sent to Clarity. On getcoins.com and signup.getcoins.com (not on our registration form), we also record website usage on our own servers with PostHog, open-source analytics software that GetCoins runs itself. It records the pages you visit, your clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, a replay of the page as it appeared to you, your browser and device type, the website that referred you, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it. It uses a first-party cookie on getcoins.com to recognize your browser on later visits. Text you type into forms is masked in your browser and is never sent. This data stays on servers controlled by GetCoins and is not sold or shared with PostHog or other third parties. We keep it without a fixed deletion date, to compare how our websites are used over time.

You can manage cookies through the settings of your Internet browser. You can have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, delete individual cookies, or delete all cookies.

Request a Copy of Personal Information

Upon your written request, we will inform you of the Personal Information relating to you that we hold and the use and general disclosure of your Personal Information. Upon written request, we will also give you a copy of the Personal Information we have retained (Personal Information, however, does not include information derived from Personal Information you provided or other information we may be prohibited by law from giving you). There may be a minimal charge for accessing and copying your Personal Information.

Deleting your data

  • Wallet data on your device. Remove the wallet in the App, or uninstall the App. Write down your recovery phrase first: without it, funds cannot be recovered, and GetCoins cannot recover them for you.
  • Data GetCoins holds about your use of the App (your phone number’s link to the App, notification token, sign-in sessions and notification preferences). Sign out of the GetCoins tab to remove your notification token at once. To have the rest deleted, email support@getcoins.com with the subject “Delete my app data” from the phone number or email address on your GetCoins account. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
  • Crash reports are not linked to you, so they cannot be looked up or deleted one by one; they are deleted automatically after 90 days.
  • ATM transaction and identity records, including Verify at home applications. As a regulated money services business we must keep Customer Identification Program and transaction records for five (5) years under the Bank Secrecy Act (see Data retention above). We delete them when that period ends.

In the United States, GetCoins is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Complaints may be submitted by completing the form that can be found here: www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov.

Changes to this policy

Our policies, content, information, promotions, disclosures, disclaimers and features may be revised, modified, updated, and/or supplemented at any time and without prior notice at our sole and absolute discretion. If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post the amended Privacy Policy on our website. The revised version will be effective at the time we post it.
